Growing in Faith, Together

At Haven, Christian formation is about more than learning about the Bible. It is about growing in faith, asking questions, building relationships, serving others, and discovering what it means to follow Jesus in every season of life. We believe faith grows best when we grow together. That means there are opportunities for children, youth, and adults to learn, serve, worship, and share life with one another.

For Children & Families

Sunday School

Sunday School at Haven is a place where children can explore faith, ask questions, learn Bible stories, and discover God's love in a welcoming community.

Beginning this fall, we offer two children's classes, allowing us to better meet children where they are as they grow. We also offer opportunities for children and families to participate in service, fellowship, worship, and special events throughout the year.

Our children are not simply the future of the church. They are part of the church right now.

Faith in Action

Christian formation doesn't stop in the classroom. Children and families have opportunities to put faith into action through service and fellowship, including projects such as Micah's Backpack, Vacation Bible School, and other special activities.

For Youth

Confirmation

Confirmation is an opportunity for young people to explore their faith, ask honest questions, build relationships, and grow in their understanding of what it means to live as a follower of Jesus.

Haven's confirmation program combines learning, hands-on experiences, worship, service, and time together with other young people. We also partner with Zion Lutheran Church in Williamsport for some shared confirmation experiences. Through confirmation, young people are encouraged not simply to learn about the church, but to recognize that they have a place in the life and ministry of the church today.

For Adults

Adult Sunday School

Adult Sunday School meets Sundays at 11:00 a.m. following worship. This class provides an opportunity to explore Scripture, faith, and the questions that connect our faith to daily life. Everyone is welcome, whether you have been studying the Bible for years or are simply curious and want to learn more.

Bible Study

Haven offers weekday Bible study opportunities throughout the year. Our studies are a chance to slow down, explore Scripture together, ask questions, and consider how God's Word speaks to our lives today.

During the fall, Pastor Vee's Bible Study is offered twice each Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m.

Women's Bible Study

Our women's Bible study meets regularly in the Parlor and uses the Bible studies published in the ELCA's Gather magazine as a starting point for conversation, reflection, and fellowship.

Learning About Lutheranism

We also offer opportunities to explore what it means to be Lutheran, including a monthly class designed especially for those who are curious about Haven, the Lutheran tradition, or what it means to become part of our church community.

Formation Beyond the Classroom

Some of the most meaningful Christian formation happens when we learn and serve together.

At Haven, faith formation can look like a Bible study, a conversation over coffee, a confirmation retreat, preparing food for someone in need, singing together, serving our neighbors, or simply spending time with one another. We believe all of these experiences can help us grow in faith and see more clearly God's love at work in our lives and community.
